French-Style Collagen Drinking Chocolate

Are you sitting down? Because I'm about to change your life with this French-Style Collagen Drinking Chocolate—it is pure decadence in a mug! You know how much I love to sneak collagen in wherever possible, and this recipe takes it to a whole new level. We're talking rich, velvety chocolate infused with the goodness of collagen peptides for an extra boost of protein-y goodness. It's basically a spa day for your taste buds and your bod! This luxurious drink is perfect for cozy nights by the fire or a special treat on a chilly afternoon. And with a simple homemade collagen whip on top, it's heaven in every sip!
Drinking Chocolate
- 12 oz whole milk
- ½ cup collagen peptides (unflavored, unsweetened)
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- 12 oz semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate (good quality, roughly chopped or chocolate chips)
- ½ tsp instant espresso
Collagen Whip
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup collagen peptides
- 1 tbsp sugar
Optional To Serve
- Marshmallows
- Strawberries
- Whisk the collagen into the whole milk to dissolve, then add the collagen milk and evaporated milk to a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan and heat over medium low heat until steamy. Don’t boil!
- Turn the heat to low, then add the chocolate and instant espresso and stir constantly until completely melted. You can also use a whisk here as well.
- Make the whip. Whip the cream until slightly thickened, then add the collagen and sugar and continue whipping until your desired consistency. Don’t go past the stiff peak stage or the cream will break and you’ll start to make butter!
- To cut back on some sugar (and add extra fiber), use a combination of regular chocolate and a sugar-free chocolate like Lily’s brand, or all sugar-free chocolate if you like. Just make sure you really like the flavor of whatever chocolate you choose, because that will be the main flavor.
- For nutrition info, Guittard brand 63% extra dark chocolate was used.
